The Kinesio course organised by Vivomed use the European style of teaching now refined in the UK and Ireland by Vivomed to be taught as a single 1 day course.
For many years the teaching of Kinesiology Taping formerly under the Kinesio Taping umbrella was spearheaded by German physiotherapist Siggi Breitenbach, Polish professor Zbigniew Sliwinski and several other highly motivated physiotherapists.
The essence of the European teaching is to develop the core techniques in the participants, and to use the students' knowledge and professionalism to create an understanding of the therapy which allows the skills to be applicable to any part of the body.
To that end, students will be encouraged to use their knowledge of patient assessments to determine areas of pain or weakness within the body and taping techniques designed to improve or eliminate these problems.
The importance of testing, tape application, and re-testing cannot be understated, and it is fundamental to the European style of teaching to develop this strategy.
The course that Vivomed has developed in conjunction with leading UK physiotherapist Mike Jones is a Clinical Kinesiology Taping Course and as such is designed to teach participants taping techniques which have proved effective in every day practice.
Though the teaching will involve detailed descriptions of techniques on individual muscle groups, ligaments and fascia, the emphasis will not be on recipe book style teaching. Students will learn the importance of normalisation or conditioning of the fascia to optimise muscle performance or range of motion in joints.
We feel that students will leave this one day course with sufficient knowledge to adopt Kinesiology taping as a front line therapy in their everyday practice.
